Adult Recare

Adult Hygiene Recare

It might look like everything is going well with your oral health, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a hidden problem developing. If you’re serious about keeping your teeth and gums healthy, we recommend maintaining your routine hygiene appointment.

What is Adult Hygiene Recare?

Recare is a lot more than just your typical teeth cleaning and routine check-up. Think of it as a one-stop appointment for thoroughly examining your entire oral region. There are three steps in the process:

  • Diagnostic
  • Preventive
  • Education
Diagnostic

Your recare appointment will begin with the diagnostic category. This is when we’ll go over every inch of your mouth to discover any dental issues that are present or in early development. We’ll capture X-rays, examine your teeth for decay or cavities, check for periodontal disease, and look for any cracks or chips. This is also the perfect opportunity for you to point out any discomfort or ask questions about your smile.

Recare appointments will also include free oral cancer screenings in April. This is extremely important, as catching cancer early allows treatment to begin as soon as possible, meaning there’s a much greater chance of curing it.

Preventive

The Preventive stage of your appointment is all about professionally cleaning your teeth. We remove plaque and tartar that have built up on your teeth. If this stays on for too long, it will eat away at your enamel, which is why it’s important to visit us for a professional cleaning at least every six months. This will be followed by brushing with a special electric toothbrush, plus flossing and a fluoride rinse.

Education

When you come to see us, we want you to learn too, because knowing more about your oral health will encourage you to take measures to stay healthy. We will show you what’s going on inside your mouth with our intraoral camera and go over important brushing and flossing tips. If you have questions about anything, we’ll be happy to have an in-depth discussion.
